Preserving User, Group, Permissions, and ACLs During Restoration.
You can preserve user ownership, group assignments, file permissions, and Access Control Lists (ACLs) during the backup and restoration process. To ensure ACLs are retained, it is essential that the ACLs of the mounted source directory remain intact. The ability to maintain these attributes largely depends on how the directory is mounted.
Since Mystic is optimized for Linux environments, verifying ACL integrity is straightforward. If the ACLs are correctly preserved on the mounted source directory, the restored files will inherit their original ACL settings. However, for the most reliable and consistent ACL preservation, we highly recommend installing the native Mystic agent on the same operating system from which the backup was taken.
This approach minimizes discrepancies in permissions and enhances security by maintaining original access controls. If you need assistance with setup, configuration, or troubleshooting, our support team is available to provide guidance and ensure a seamless restoration process.
